A study carried out in Edith Cowan University in Western Australia has proven that eating two servings of fruit every day could reduce the risk of developing type 2 Diabetes. Researchers examined the risk of developing diabetes among 7,675 Australians who consumed two portions of fruits a day. They found that the risk is reduced by 36% for people who were taking part.
The research continued for five years following where they discovered that participants had higher measures of insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance.
Fruits are an essential element of your meals. You must include fruits in your diet. They are packed with minerals, vitamins, and fibers, and are great source of sugar. They also provide great antioxidants. Their antioxidant properties reduce the chance of developing many chronic illnesses.
What is type 2 Diabetes?
The condition is known as Type 2. Diabetes is an illness that causes issue where your body ceases producing insulin, and thus cannot absorb glucose. It is the hormone which aids your body cells in the process of absorb glucose from the blood when you consume food.
When you consume something, it is processed in your stomach. It then gets absorbed by the blood.
As the glucose levels rise in your blood, the pancreas is alerted and releases insulin. Insulin is then able to reduce blood sugar levels by increasing the absorption of insulin in body cells.
If the cells of your body are made insensitive to insulin they're unable to take in glucose, so the blood glucose levels remain high. This is known as type 2 diabetes.
A few changes to your lifestyle could help prevent type 2 diabetes.
Engaging in exercises will increase the amount of insulin released and can help prevent the progression of diabetes.
It is recommended to consume drinking water as your first drink. Drinks with sugary ingredients like punch and soda can are a major risk factor for developing the disease.
Stop smoking Smoking is a serious cause of illnesses. It is closely linked to Type 2 Diabetes.
Avoid sedentary living Changes in sedentary habits can be as simple as standing at your desk and walking around for an hour. Do not sit all day and doing nothing. Make sure you stretch your muscles and your body to maintain proper blood flow within your body.
How do fruits help in type 2 Diabetes?
Fruits are excellent sources of sugar. Research has shown that the consumption of fruits can be linked to insulin sensitivity markers. So, when you consume more fruits then your body will need lower levels of insulin in order to reduce the amount of glucose in your blood.
That is eating fruits, your body reduces blood sugar levels, but it does not produce lots of insulin.
