What does Avastin Injection do?
Avastin Injection is indicated along with conventional chemotherapy to improve metastatic breast cancer, kidney cancer, lung cancer, colon and rectum cancer.
Metastatic breast cancer is essentially stage 4 breast cancer. It's also referred to as advanced breast cancer. The word “metastatic” refers to cancer that has spread beyond the part of the body where it started. Nipple discharge, pain and breast mass are some of the symptoms of Metastatic breast cancer.
Kidney cancer is a disease that starts in the kidneys. It happens when healthy cells in one or both kidneys grow out of control and form a lump (called a tumor). Some of the symptoms of this are - blood in the urine (hematuria), low back pain on one side (not caused by injury), a mass (lump) on the side or lower back, fatigue (tiredness), and loss of appetite among others.
Lung Cancer begins in the lungs and most often occurs in people who smoke. Two major types of lung cancer are non-small cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer. Symptoms for this include a cough (often with blood), chest pain, wheezing and weight loss.
In colon and rectum cancer, early cases can begin as non-cancerous polyps. These often have no symptoms but can be detected by screening. Colorectal cancer symptoms depend on the size and location of cancer. Some commonly experienced symptoms include changes in bowel habits, changes in stool consistency, blood in the stool and abdominal discomfort.

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) interacts with its receptor to generate angiogenesis, which ultimately facilitates the growth and spread of cancer.
